I'm well off my usual pace for posting here at Lost Womyn's Space. But since I posted some preliminary information on Margaret Fowler and Alice Delores "Tiny" Hayes (a/k/a George Hayes), I've become totally capivated by these two and the lives they led. (See Lesbian Marriage in Columbus, Kansas (1935)) Readers seem to be intrigued as well, as the initial piece is now one of the most popular posts at Lost Womyn's Space, even though it's just a month old. Gradually, with a lot of research, some of the story is starting to come into focus.
Meanwhile, Tiny Hayes should be honored as a lesbian pioneer who fought for the right to dress as she liked and to marry the girlfriend she loved--and all of this was over 75 years ago.
So if you live in the Miami, Oklahoma area--or you're just passing through--please stop by and pay tribute to this amazing and courageous woman.
