Ever since I was a student, I have been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of gender politics and the human condition. What starts out as triumph soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of lust and power, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the prospect of a new synthesis.
As spatial phenomena become frozen through boundaried and critical practice, the viewer is left with an insight into the limits of our future.
Though I am in fact a former critical theory and philosophy major (true confessions time!), this "artistic statement" is pure horse patootie. A friend sent me a link to Arty Bollocks Generator, and I cobbled together "my statement" from playing at that site. It's lots of fun, and I highly recommend it for your amusement and edification. Although I have to admit, my statement sort of fits, no?
